Serving the needs of the Harrogate community for over 30 years
Essential Needs has been working since 1995 supporting those in furniture poverty within the Harrogate community.
We are an independent charity run by a small group of full and part-time staff with the steadfast support of a team of volunteers and a governing board of trustees.
Thanks to the generosity of the people from the Harrogate District we are able to re-use and redistribute good quality used furniture, household items and white goods to those residents in need of support and to lessen the burden of landfill waste by giving unwanted goods a new lease of life.
Our aims are . . .
In the past year . . .
. . . we provided furniture, bedding and appliances to more than 650 households in the Harrogate area.
. . . our volunteers gave nearly 3,000 hours of their own time to help collect and deliver our items.
. . . we stopped more than 150 tonnes of furniture and electrical appliances from adding to the landfill mountain.
