Essential Needs is run by six part-time paid members of staff with the generous support of a team of dedicated volunteers.

We are governed by a Board of Trustees who determine how best to manage and run the charity for the benefit of all on low incomes in the Harrogate Borough.

Lee Wright

Lee joined Essential Needs in January 2019 having worked in the service sector for over 25 years. Having lived in the Harrogate district since 1994 he has a good understanding of the area and the needs of the local community.
Lee is committed to increasing the availability of low cost household items to those most in need and developing the role Essential Needs plays in other community activities.

Tammy Golding
Assistant Manager

Tammy came to work at Essential Needs in 2018. Having worked in administration for over 20 years she now uses those skills to help the local community. You will often find her in the shop, or tucked away in the office answering Facebook messages. She is pleased to be working for a charity that can really make a difference to people’s lives and also works as a therapeutic counsellor.

Tim Burkham
Warehouse Manager

Following a career in marketing, Tim joined on a temporary basis is 2019 and liked it so much he has stuck with us ever since. His is the face you’ll see collecting donations, delivering to our customers or rearranging the stock in our warehouse. Always happy to do whatever is possible to squeeze a sofa through a tiny doorway, he is proud to be providing a valuable service to those most in need.
